Iain Banks is dead

IB

I read The Wasp Factory years ago and found it weird and disturbing. Despite that, as a would-be writer, I kept reading Banks’s novels. I never read any of his Ian M Banks sci-fi simply because I’m not really into that stuff. Around the same time I read Stephen King and found similarities, the unique and original writing, always well-written, readable stuff. Page-turners yes, but most definitely not pot-boilers (look it up here if you don’t know the expression). Wasp Factory was the first (the first published, anyway. Who knows what others a writer attempts before he is sucessful?). The Quarry is the last. Looking forward to reading it. Stonemouth was excellent. Unputdownable.
